About Built For Her Body

We made the pillow we wished existed.

The idea didn't come from a lab. It came from a mum.

My mum has slept on her side for fifty years. By her late forties, she was waking up with hip pain so bad she'd lie in bed an hour before she could move. She tried the doctor, the chiropractor, the physio. The advice was always the same. Try yoga. Lose weight. Sleep on your back.

None of it helped, because none of it was the actual problem.

The problem

My mum's pillow was designed for the average sleeper. The average body the manufacturer tested it on was male. Wider shoulders, narrower hips, a different angle through the spine when sleeping on the side.

Her pillow wasn't broken. It just wasn't built for her.

When you Google "knee pillow," you find thousands of options. They're all sized roughly the same. They're all designed roughly the same. None of them ask the most basic question — whose body is this for?

We started Built For Her Body to answer that question.

What we did

We sat with sleep researchers, physiotherapists, and women in their thirties, forties, fifties, and sixties. We asked one question: what's actually going wrong at night?

The answer was the same every time. The pillow doesn't fit. The strap slips. The shape is wrong for a woman's hip-to-knee proportions. Her body is making the pillow work, instead of the other way around.

We built something different. Her Hipline is sized to a woman's anatomy. The wide elastic strap holds it in place through the night, even during pregnancy. The Q-Angle Geometry inside accounts for the wider hip-to-knee ratio that the pillow industry has been ignoring for fifty years.

It's a small piece of design, doing one job correctly.

Where we are

Built For Her Body is a small operation, headquartered in Melbourne, shipping worldwide. We don't sell in stores. We don't have investors. We answer our own emails.

We're not trying to build a hundred products. We're trying to build the one product women have been waiting for, and to do it properly.

If you have a question, write to us at hello@builtforherbody.com. If you've used Her Hipline and have feedback, write to us. If you have an idea for what we should build next, write to us.

Thank you for being here.
